Gangotri

Located by the Bhagirathi river on the Greater Himalayan ranges, it is believed that the Goddess Ganga descended at this place when released from Lord Shiva’s hair locks. The idol of the goddess is decorated with beautiful linens, flowers and jewels.

Gangotri Opening Date: Opens in the last week of April or first week of May, on the day of Akshaya Tritiya.

Kedarnath

Being one of the most popular and ancient pilgrimages in Indian geographical sphere, Kedarnath holds a lot of importance. The religious fact of the place lies in the fact of considering it as the seat of Lord Shiva, and also for holding a part of 12 Jyotirlinga in the country.

Kedarnath Opening Date: First week of May (the date varies depending upon the decision of the priests)

Badrinath

Located beneath the towering Nilkantha Peak, Badrinath Temple holds great religious importance. It is believed to be a seat of Lord Vishnu and thus, devotees can experience a spiritual transcendence, on their visit to this holy temple.
